Rapids Michigan, founded in 1826 by Detroit born Louis
Campau, has grown from a trading post to the second largest
city in the state of Michigan. In the second half of
the 19th century Grand Rapids earned it's nickname of the
"Furniture City" thanks to its lumber industry and furniture
manufacturing. Today Grand Rapids is still considered a
world leader in the production of fine furniture.
