Professional Grade Security Cameras
Standard Body / C-Mount

Professional or Standard Body Security Cameras offer
several
advantages over other CCTV camera body styles. Being the original CCTV
Security Camera body style Standard Body Cameras are still in use worldwide and
offer an amazing range of features.

More
ways to Mount your security camera!
With a Standard Body camera you may select from a variety of CCTV
security camera mounts. Mounts are available for ceiling, wall,
or roof, also they are available in
different lengths and of
some are even flexible allowing you to bend the mount arm itself
into any angle you need. To find out more about camera mount options,

For outdoor camera installations you need a housing
Standard Body security cameras can be used outside or in a very
harsh environment when put in an
outdoor
camera housing like the photo to the right. An outdoor housing
with a built in heater and blower can allow the camera to
operate in environments that would be outside the range of other
body types. The outdoor housing is also instantly recognizable
as a security camera and as such offers a great deal of
deterrence.
Lenses can be
changed!
As a general rule Standard Body Cameras have their lenses sold
separately. The lens simply unscrews from the camera body, just
like the way lenses are removed from traditional cameras. The
main type of lenses are: Autoiris, Varifocal, and Fixed.
See our recommended CCTV Lenses
An Autoiris lens has a small cable that
connects from the lens to the body of the camera. Through this
cable the lens and the camera can communicate and the lens will
actually squint to reduce the amount of light getting through
should the camera have to look at a picture full of bright
lights.
If you have a Varifocal lens that means the
lens can have its focal length manually adjusted across a range of settings listed
in millimeters. The higher the millimeter
(mm) rating on the lens the greater the zoom of the camera. The
lower the mm rating the wider the angle of view. This is a huge advantage
over a camera with a fixed lens because with a varifocal lens you can adjust
the zoom and focus to get the most appropriate field of view for
your shot. Varifocal lenses in the range of 3-15mm are very common
and affordable. Specialty lenses that range up to 150mm or more
are also available but their costs can easily exceed that of the
camera.
In general, a 8mm lens is like a
4mm lens magnified 2 times.
A 16mm lens is like the 4mm lens
magnified 4 times.

Field Of View Calulator
A fixed lens offers the most economical
solution but as the name implies the field of view is fixed and
can not be adjusted. Fixed lenses are available across the full
range of sizes and can come with or without the autoiris
feature.
Dual Voltage!
Professional Security Cameras are for the most part capable
of accepting either a
12 Volt DC or a 24 Volt AC power source.
This gives them the advantage over other cameras that accept
only 12 Volt DC. In large facilities where cable runs can be
quite long 12 Volt DC will simply not run as far or as stable as
24 Volt DC.
