GeoVision Access Control Systems and Software

GeoVision Access Control In the retail industry access control systems from GeoVision are being utilized to keep shoplifting and employee dishonestly to a minimum. In 2006 over 530,000 shoplifters and dishonest employees at 23 major retailers were caught and over $116 million was recovered from them. In each case the employees stole roughly six and a half times more than the amount that shoplifters had stolen.

It is plain to see why, in cases such as this, a GeoVision access control system would prove useful. GeoVision offers the equipment to help not only major retailers, but also small and medium businesses too. Along with access controllers and other hardware, GeoVision has a variety of access control software, namely the GV-ASServer, the GV-ASClient, and the GV-ASWeb.

Depending on the need for the access control, there is different equipment that is more useful. For example, lets say there is a retail chain that is in need of access controllers. The equipment that they would most likely be interested in is GeoVision's GV-Reader and a GV-AS200 access controller. This would support up to 10,000 card users and 4 predefined security scenerios (such as one-way exit or entry, a mix of the two, or multiple door entries and exits).

As for the software application, the GV-ASServer could be installed and setup at a local PC (most likely in the managers office or somewhere similar). The GV-ASServer is a local PC based software system that can integrate digital video monitoring, central station reporting functions, and web-based management tools. The store owner is then able to view recorded videos (from a viewlog based on time, alarm, or event), he can also monitor the door status in real time.

The GV-ASClient is great for a company or store with multiple store locations. The ASClient is a remote access control application that is very similar to the ASServer, but can control multiple ASServers that are installed at the various locations. A store owner can monitor from a remote location and view all recorded videos. The ASClient also allows the user to do various tasks such as unlocking/locking doors and enabling/disabling alarms.

GV-ASWeb is another access control software application that allows the user to search, view, or playback videos through the internet.
