GeoVision - In recent months GeoVision has continued to demonstrate its cost effective and powerful GV-Video server for IP Video Surveillance. In the November Newsletter GeoVision discusses several IP Surveillance case studies for government and the transportation sectors.

In the Government sector Argentina has recently brought an IP based GeoVision solution online. The new IP camera security system will use PTZ cameras within a 600 Square-Meter area to monitor roads and traffic conditions. It is also hoped that the IP camera security system will demonstrate Argentina's resolve to improve public safety in urban environments.

A transportation case study in Brazil shows how an IP surveillance system from GeoVision can be used to improve safety and the effectiveness of the countries well established bus network. In this situation IP cameras will be utilized both inside and outside the bus, including the front windshield.

The cameras will be used to prevent dishonest passengers from leaving the bus without paying and to deter criminals from robbery or other attacks on the bus. The cameras also guard against employee theft. In case of accident the IP video camera watching through the front windshield could provide invaluable evidence for the defense of the bus company should the need arise in court.

To date the bus company is quite pleased and the low cost of ownership has only added to the benefits of flexibility and integration into the firms existing IP surveillance network.

Manufacturing facilities can also take advantage of the GeoVision GV-Vdieo Server. As the GV-Video Server is designed to digitize one or two analog video signal and compress them into MPEG4 ASP for a crisp full D1 stream over limited bandwidth on an IP network it is a natural fit for large companies with an existing IP infrastructure.

Once digitized the GV-Server sends the video feed across the IP network where it can be monitored by GV-Center V2. With dual streaming customers remotely access IP video remotely using a 3G mobile phone while the video is simultaneously recorded on a DVR.

According to GeoVision the next gen. GV-Video Server, Version 4.0, will be release soon and will support such features as: GSP for global tracking, 3.5GB USB modem with high speed download/upload packet access for enhanced mobile viewing, multicast for monitoring several GV-Systems within a LAN, email in JPEG formats, and power over Ethernet for enhanced efficiency.

GeoVision announced last week it plans to partner with major EAS system builders in order to integrate it's camera surveillance software with retailers and their need to prevent shoplifting. The new integration will offer features such as alerts and live video to PDA's when an EAS tag sets off a store alarm.
