Frequently Asked Questions For Object Tracking Cameras

How does object tracking work?

Cameras with an object tracking feature are typically only able to track moving objects. This is done thanks to motion sensors installed into the camera that will alert it to anything that moves and allows the camera to track that object as it moves. Though some cameras might have be able to keep track of stationary objects and help keep track of inventory object tracking cameras, for the most part, can only track moving objects.

Can all cameras have object tracking?

No, object tracking software is only applied to Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras since they have the ability to move with whatever object they are tracking. However, other stationary cameras can be paired with an object tracking camera and when those stationary cameras detect a moving object they can trigger an alarm and alert the object tracking camera to look at the area where the alarm was triggered.

What specifficaly can the cameras track?

Object tracking cameras can track just about anything that moves and as mentioned before they can sometimes keep track of stationary objects as well. Anything, from small animals, to people and vehicles these cameras can detect and track whatever moves and can do so from impressive distances thanks to their high optical zoom and long range night-vision which allows for around the clock security.
